Around the little village of Portilla in Cuenca near Madrid, we’ll find “El barranco de Portilla” or “Portilla’s canyon”. We’ll descend it using several techniques that includes Hiking, Scrambling, Abseilling (rappelling)… We’ll cross the mountain through a narrow cut into the limestone bedrock descending with ropes 7 drops up to 12 meters. In most of them there are different possibilities and the instructor will chose the most appropriate to each participant’s level, as canyoning or “canyoneering” is enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels. The activity can last between 3 or 5 hours depending on the number of participants and their agility.
This descent, is compatible in the same day with the “Barranco del Diablo” also known as “Cortados del Jucar” which is 100% aquatic.
The descent of Portilla and Ventano canyons near Madrid are ideal to start in rappel and canyoning if you are in the area of Madrid.
